Are Artists Using the Internet to Full Advantage
It’s impossible to know how many painters, sculptors, mixed media artists and fine art photographers have their own websites or are showing their work on collective websites on the net. There must be several millions worldwide. Just as the number of artists there is incalculable, there are no statistics concerning the overall value of art works actually sold on the internet. Several very large, well know e-commerce sites like eBay have specific sections offering artworks for sale but details about the level of transactions are not published. The net allows people world wide the possibility to view work that they would otherwise never see, but how much commercial impact does an internet presence really have for emerging, unknown artists? I think it is safe to say that most artists, once their websites are launched do little in the way of optimization to get them seen.
It’s hard to dispute the saying that “if your not on the net, you don’t exist.. Everyone seeks information about everyone, first and foremost, on the internet. Plumber, electrician, doctor or artist; if you want to be found, a presence on the web is obligatory. The question that needs to be asked is; “can original art be appreciated and evaluated correctly from a JPG image on a computer screen and consequently be bought with confidence?

Artists – Find More Buyers by Participating in Artist Interviews
Many artists are finding the Internet to be a wonderful opportunity to gain massive exposure for their artwork. There are tons of ways to promote yourself including social bookmarking, community sites, blogging, and more. The one promotional tool that many artists miss is participating in the Artist Interview.
With limitless blogs now online and many dedicated to the arts, getting an artist interview is relatively easy. Generally speaking artists that submit to be considered for an artist interview will receive an interview sheet to fill out. It might ask questions about their art career or even a little about their personal lives. The features are usually linked back to the artists website where buyers and interested parties can learn more.

Art Website Basics – What Every Artist Should Know!
Today, an artist must have a well designed website in order to present their art work to prospects, gallery owners and other interested parties. At the minimum, an artist website should provide to the viewer a sample of the artist’s art, an overview of their experience and their contact information.
Because of the overwhelming amount of artists who want to be represented by art galleries or who want to sell their art on their own, they must have a website that is easy to navigate and that will load quickly. If a visitor to their website requires too many “clicks” to a slow in loading and difficult to navigate website, the artist will risk losing that visitor.
